The NIE is your identification number; the TIE is the physical residence card that displays it. Non-EU residents are the ones who need the TIE.
For any stay past ninety days, yes — student, work, family or non-lucrative. You collect the visa at the Spanish consulate before you set off. That consular stage sits outside Spain, so it is not ours to run; AnchorLess is the outfit we name for it, and we pick things up once you land.
Within thirty days of reaching Palma you book a fingerprint (toma de huellas) appointment, hand in the EX-17 with your photos, and collect the card a few weeks on. We take care of the booking and the paperwork.
